What Skin Care Should Look Like In Your 30's Looks Like- Positively Posie

Well here I am.. in my 30’s I would like to say I made it here quite gracefully.

If I am being honest my 20’s were good to me, when we are talking about the world of skin. My 20’s was all about PREVENTION and SIMPLICITY. I did my best to prevent fine lines from getting deeper with botox and a good skincare routine. I don’t know about you but when I hit 30 my skin changed. I was seeing slower cell turnover rate slows, major dryness, dullness and discoloration. It freaking sucked and I was using facetune way more than I needed to be.

So I went on the hunt for great skincare product to help me my skin youthful and line free.Along the way I fell in love with the world of beauty, more importantly my skin along the way.

What Skin Care Should Look Like In Your 30's Looks Like- Positively Posie

I guess this would be an overall skin care routine I am going to share with you. I’m not going into major details, like this is AM or what I use in the PM. That is a whole different post and maybe I’ll work on that next. I really just want to share what I am using and why I use them.

Hydrating Toner is one of my favorite things to put on in the morning. I literally can feel my skin plumping as it drinks it right up. In 2019 I switched many of my products out for EWG verified products. “The EWG VERIFIED mark on a product indicates that the product meets EWG’s strictest standards for transparency and health”. Biossance meets those strict standard and has become a huge part of my skincare routine. Try their amazing Sqaulane + Hylauronic toner which is a facial mist that replenishes skin with minerals and hydrates with sugarcane-derived squalane and two types of hyaluronic acid.

Exfoliation should be your BFF in your 30’s. This has been the biggest game changer for my skin, because it’s all about boosting cell turnover to have that fresh and glowy skin. I have used three different exfoliation methods over the last 6 months and I really love them all. First,  Dr Lancer’s the method, Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Universal Peel Pads and Exfolikate by Kate Somerville. All of these will wonders for your skin’s texture and help with cell turn over.

Glycolic Acid is the smallest of all the acids, which means the molecule can more easily to get into the skin, which give us the most dramatic results. It helps to clear pores, retexturize skin and is in most anti-aging products on the market. I’m obsessed with KD Glycolic Acid Cleanser, which has 10% Glycolic acid and blend of antioxidants, vitamins A,C,E and Green Tea extract in combination with Co-Q10. It leaves my skin so smooth after using it, and who doesn’t want to use a product that regenerates collagen & evens skin tone.

Retinol is helping me fight the good fight of fine lines. I use a light vegan retinol and lots of oral collagen weekly. Retinol helps to increase the production of collagen and new blood vessels which is key as we age (it also helps with pigmentation & dullness). If you are looking for a lighter and clean anti-aging product try Bakuchiol Natural Retinol Alternative Serum. This product is 100% natural, non-irritating retinol alternative that is a great place to start for newbies.

Brighteners are now a must have in my daily routine. Unfortunately, the melasma train hit me hard when I was pregnant. I’m constantly battling the build up of pigment under my eyes and on my forehead. I’m all about a good concentrated serum for this issue, serums are the best because your gonna get a higher concentration of active ingredients on your face. Always put your serum on first and then build your other on products on top of the serum.

Sunscreen + Supplements are crucial to your daily routine. The main thing you should think about is the sunscreen formula. I personally like physical sunscreen which contains minerals ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. I like a physical sunscreen because they deflect and scatter UV rays away from the skin. Check out my post on the Cleanest and Safest Sunscreens of 2019 here

Also, don’t forget that you can help your skin by supplementing with products like Arctic Repair and Red Carpet from HUM Nutrition. They are packed with things like antioxidants, vitamin E, lingonberry seed oil– all the good stuff to really give your skin a boost. I personally take Arctic repair everyday, plus their Raw Beauty Green Superfood powder, is a great combination.

I love this post! I totally agree that the busier my life gets the more that makes me get into skin care. I love being able to treat myself like that and even better know how important it is to my overall health. So happy I found you and can’t wait to follow you!

If only I’d known then what I know now…the sun wouldn’t have been my BFF. Sigh. Right now I’m loving products from Deciem/The Ordinary but Biossance & Kate Somerville are definitely on my list to try. I’m also intigued by caffeinated sunscreen!
